The Pathway consists of six distinct sessions; each one building on the one before:
Session 1:
Building Connections
"So, in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others."
(Romans 12:5)
This first module brings the group together, creates a safe space to learn together and builds a firm foundation on which we can grow our skills and confidence. After learning about how God created us for connection, participants get a chance to explore this concept further through our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and by reflecting on their day-to-day interactions with others.
Session 2:
Humble Enquiry
"Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up."
(James 4:10)
A practical coaching technique that emphasises: 'ask don't tell'! People don't like being told what to do and so we learn from Jesus to approach others from a place of humility.
Session 3:
Becoming Fully Present
"Be still and know that I am God."
(Psalm 46:10)
Listening is at the heart of transformative coaching conversations - and before we can listen to others, we will benefit from listening to God. Learning to notice the constant noise that goes on, in and around us, we share insights into how to quieten the distraction, and become fully present in the moment. Stilling ourselves before God teaches us how to move into that quiet space and provides a route back to Him whenever we need to be present. This then equips us to listen to others from a place of curiosity and compassion.
Session 4:
Asking Powerful Questions
"What about you?" He asked, "Who do you say I am?"
(Matthew 16:15)
Jesus asked over 300 questions in the scriptures; He answered only three directly. Learning about the power of questions can free us from feeling the need to find answers to the dilemmas others are experiencing. Asking questions that transform thinking and shift lives up a gear is a fine art. The learning begins here.
Session 5:
Giving & Receiving Feedback
"As iron sharpens iron so one person sharpens another."
(Proverbs 27:17)
Neuroscience tells us that the over-arching principle of the brain is to look out for threats and keep us safe. Because of this, and the brain's inability to differentiate between real and perceived threat, we need to learn to offer feedback in a way that doesn't trigger or offend the person we are seeking to help. Starting by learning to receive feedback and to notice how it feels when it lands with you, provides real-time experiences to grow from.
Session 6:
Next Steps…
"Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers."
(Galatians 6:10)
The final session and VLE content, helps us to pull all that we have learned together and to determine how we will make use of our new skills and strengths as we move forward. We also explore how participants can form deeper connections with the Living Well community and receive ongoing support.

Listening Well
"As a church we believe that training people to listen to others well is one of the most significant skills we can give them. This course is a brilliant tool for that.
We ran the 'Listening Well' session from the Pathway course with twenty people from our congregation. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. People loved how incredibly practical the training was. They felt like their skills for relating to others, caring for others and functioning well at home and work have been sharpened."

The Living Well Community of Practice
Living Well began with a small group of people sharing a desire to respond to the mission of equipping God's people to serve and a passion to build a community that would enable us to come together to support and encourage one another on our Christ-centred journeys.
Living Well in Christ was set up as a charity to 'equip His people for works of service'.
For this reason, it is our aim to offer the Pathway training free of charge to those who serve in any capacity - including volunteers, staff teams and ministry leaders.
Pay It Forward
We raise funds through our Go Fund Me page to support this initiative and participants may choose to give a donation if they feel comfortable doing so. There is no obligation to do so but all funds raised go towards the running and development of the Living Well charity and supports the development of a new Christian Coaching qualification that will launch in 2027. You can support us here.
